OUR
APPROACH
Working together, learning together, building together.
OUR ROADMAP
FOR IMPACT
We are adopting a test-and-learn approach, purposefully starting local. During our pilot stage, from 2026, we are trialing our approach in a focused number of regions in Côte d’Ivoire (and later Ghana), working alongside cocoa-farming families, cooperatives, NGOs, implementation partners, and other stakeholders across multiple harvest cycles. These efforts are to be carried out in close collaboration and alignment with governments.
Independent third-party impact assessment is built in from the start, so our ambition to expand will be grounded in evidence, not assumption.
If the pilot proves successful, our steady stage is expected to begin in 2030 — expanding beyond the pilot regions and opening participation in the Foundation to the broader industry.
THREE PILOT AREAS
A TEST-AND-LEARN APPROACH ACROSS THREE AREAS (2026-2029)
We intend to collaborate closely with the governments of Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana to define the details of the areas we plan to work in.
Our current approach is:
Pilot a Central Implementation Approach for TogetherCocoa
Working directly with cocoa-farming families, cooperatives, and communities, we are piloting a comprehensive set of interventions, drawing from the proven approaches of the founding companies’ programs and beyond. These interventions will be developed and implemented together with cocoa-farming families, communities, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
Accelerate harmonized sustainability requirements for West African cocoa
By accelerating harmonization, we aim to eliminate the complexity and administrative burden currently imposed on cocoa farmers and cooperatives by a multitude of overlapping requirements and reporting needs.
Collaborate to test a holistic response effort to disease spread
We intend to contribute to the development and implementation of effective and scalable approaches that reduce the spread and impact of cocoa diseases, notably CSSVD, in order to protect cocoa trees and help secure farmers’ incomes. Our objective is to support national efforts and strategies to combat diseases affecting cocoa by working in close collaboration with origin-country governments.
